Monday: Pirate Edition
YOU are a Pirate.
This Wednesday, September 19th, is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. In honor, please enjoy the piratical goodness contained herein, and don't forget to celebrate by throwing a few "arrrr"s and "ahoy"s around.
Lazy Town - You Are A Pirate. I spent days looking for this mp3. You should definitely check out the now famous video here. One of the greatest pirate songs to come out of children's television in decades.
Reliant K - The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything. This song was awesome when it first appeared on Veggie Tales. Personally I feel it's been a bit played out since then, but that's not to say I don't enjoy it. It certainly deserves its place on this list. If you too have heard this song often, maybe you've yet to hear this version at least. And who knows, maybe someone out there hasn't heard it at all.
Monkey Island - Scumm Bar. Classic pirate tune from the first game. The Monkey Island games flip-flop in awesomeness: Odds = good, Evens = Meh. In Game 4 you return to Melee Island and the Scumm Bar. The updated song may have superior sound quality and fancy background chatter, but really fails to capture the gritty, welcoming mood of the first. It's actually pretty generic sounding. At least we can mathematically prove that Monkey Island 5 will be super great, making up for 4, as the third game did for number 2.

Ray Stevens - The Pirate Song. Not into the traditional pirate lifestyle? No problem. We got you covered.
Arrogant Worms - The Last Saskatchewan Pirate. Proving once again that Canada is awesome at everything.
Pirates of the Carribean. The famous track. You know, that one. The one everyone knows.
Pirates of the Carribean. The famous track. You know, that one. The one everyone knows. One Piece BGM - Kaizoku. The argument that One Piece pirates aren't real pirates is rubbish. They're simply not traditional pirates - by any means. Heck, they don't even talk like pirates (don't study them for ideas on Talk Like A Pirate Day). Even in music, One Piece doesn't have a lot of songs that are all that pirate-y, though "traditional" themes show up here and there. The songs on this track (translated as "Pirate") are about as yo-ho fabricated pirate lifestyle as it gets. To the Grand Line also has a great pirate sound, particularly in the second half.

One Piece Movie 4 - Port City Hannibal. Port City Hannibal - where all the scum and villainy across the Grand Line come to hang out. I love the theme mixing in this song. The OP movies are a whole separate bag from the series when it comes to soundtracks. Some, like this one, feel kinda pirate-y. Others, not so much. But I'm saving all my favorite tv and movie pieces for the One Piece premiere in a few weeks.

If you're wondering, no, this isn't the extent of my pirate song collection. I've tried to boil this list down best I could (but plenty of stuff snuck back on there), and I've spared you from a few I only keep around for novelty purposes (The Wiggles had more than one). Don't expect 10+ songs next week though... If anyone actually enjoys this enough to expect anything at all.
I hope I have inspired the sea rover in everyone. Including YOU. Because YOU are a PIRATE. Let me know how Talk Like A Pirate Day turns out for everyone. :)
