I leaned stuff at school today!

17 credits! Not as impressive as it sounds, as 2 of them are Guitar (easily less work than any .5 credit dance or exsc class). And 3 of them are Asian Cinema taught by the bestest teacher on all of BYU campus, so that class will be a more a treat than anything. All the other classes I've been to have said stuff like "Usually I do a lot of quizzes, but I didn't this year" or "I've never had open book tests before but this year I figured why not?" Best semester ever. I hope. Get back to me on that in a month or so.

Which brings us to this weeks...

Media March
Oh how I want to be...

You get to hear my first guitar song ever! Lucky you! It's "When the Saints Go Marching In." No really, just give it a minute and I promise it sounds like it. Song performed by me + posted on the internets = As of now I am OFFICIALLY an independent artist. Boo ya!

Sunday Recording - using only the text book as a guide. Sorry, no singing. I didn't want to hit you with a double whammy of terrible and amature folk music.

Monday Recording - after my first actual guitar class. Equally no singing. Uses an actual strum pattern. Sorry for the pauses in these. G chord is hard to switch to. Especially when your fingers really hurt from all the bad takes you've done in the last 20 minutes.

How it's supposed to sound (as recorded and sung by my teacher).

Falling asleep? Here is one of the greatest versions of this song ever.

That's all for this week. But as an extra note, I want to remind everyone that September 19th is almost upon us! This day always sneaks up on me. But this year I both have and shall give proper warning to anyone paying attention. September 19th is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. Next Monday's entry will be filled with much pirate-y goodness in celebration. For those of you with the guts to observe the date this year, I want some swashbuckling tales of your adventures! Is anyone gonna dress up? Totally send me a pic if you are.

One of the greatest renditions of "When the Saints Come Marching In" was an amateur ska band who decided to set up shop on the beach in Pusan and play. It was their encore and it was freakin' amazing. Like, transcendental.

How is it that you became an independent musician before I did? Rats.
