The current Films VP didn't actually show up, so the prez, having heard that this was one of my favorite shows, asked me to substitute. Actually, it was more like he let me since I volunteered once I got there. It ended up being a really good thing I was there to warn them of what they were about to see, since most of them (including the MIA Films VP who picked the title) had no idea. I got to stand up in front of a captive audience and rant about the history of One Piece and what 4kids did wrong and what 4kids did right (haha) and the future of One Piece in America. I don't know if any of you have ever experienced it, but ranting about a passion to a halfway interested audience is GLORIOUS. It beats boring my friends who I'm sure all roll their eyes behind my back. ;)
I invited everyone there to my One Piece party on the 29th. I need to post on the Quark boards about that so people remember. I expect maybe 3 people who only know me through Quark to show up. I'll post all the formal details for the rest of you guys soon.
I also picked up the series' two soundtracks for $4 each. Listening to them has just got me more anxious to find the first two discs. Much of the music is orchestrated. By the Philharmonic Orchestra! Man I love this series.
Speaking of Music, I also picked up the first disc of Beck (on sale for $14). I've heard a lot of good things about it. Plus it came with a Beck guitar pick! Since I actually play the guitar now (hahaha), the purchase is already useful. Apparently Greg Ayres can sing. Who woulda guessed? I can definitely see myself collecting this entire series, depending on how disc one turns out.
