With The Funk

Got back from Idaho a few hours ago after helping my Mom move all weekend. It was fun visiting the family (and Reilly, who is apparently my "new best friend"). I brought with me a new bike that I'm very happy about, a new comic book I hope to post more about soon, and the knowledge that my hair CAN be curled using copious amounts of product and a hair difuser. The pictures are mind boggling, and may appear here if I can ever get them off my currently dead camera.

I didn't get to go to Anime Banzai, but I'm thinking of throwing my own Anime convention instead. Contact me if you're interested in participating. First, I'll need to gather a group of 10 friends. Eight of them will sign up to be guest speakers on panels of topics of their own choosing. The other two will put together the screening room schedule, and hopefully only one of them will flake out. At least 3 guests will drop out at the last minute (any out of state volunteers will work perfectly for this). Everyone else will bring snacks, and after 10 minutes of the first BS panel we'll skip out on the rest and just watch anime all night.

I'm planning on a killer con summer next year (we'll see how my enthusiasm, cash, and time frame hold up for that though), so let me know if there are any current plans to any specific cons.

Manic Monday
It's just another...

The promised Monday update is late, but twice as good.

For anyone who played Parappa the Rapper, you probably know of it's pseudo sequel, Um Jammer Lammy (not to be confused with it's actual sequel, Parappa the Rapper 2). I must confess... I'm not as good at the Parappa and Lammy games as I'd like to be. The gameplay is awkward at times, and it often feels like hitting the button "on cue" is later than the game would like. I hear people using these excuses on Space Channel 5 and Elite Beat Agents and mentally scoff at their obvious lack of win (and so fully admit that this may be the case for me). Still, the visuals are so bizzare that I can't help but enjoy playing, and the excellent music doesn't hurt either. Particularly in the case of Um Jammer Lammy, listening to the soundtrack usually brings as much joy as the game itself.

After completing the game as unfortunate guitarist Lammy, you unlock Parappa mode with hop-hop versions of all stages. The Fire Fire stage is probably my third favorite Lammy song, but may be my favorite Parappa song. Super groove time.
