Thankful list coming soon.

Thx Tuesday
DL plz.

Happy Thanksgiving week all. Just one song for you today, and then onto those life updates you people keep saying you want me to post. But first, in the spirit of giving thanks here's a mighty fine tune. I Like Hubcaps, a song about all the stuff Brak likes. Strangely enough, this doubles as my own personal list. Recall it's wise words are you reflect on all the things you are thankful for this weekend.

I'm not sure who started it, but it seems as though colleges nationwide have decided that Thanksgiving break isn't a holiday weekend so much as it is a chance to do more schoolwork than normal. I have two major presentations due next week, and my groups for both are either not able or willing to meet, email, or otherwise do anything about it. I have a major paper due that I've barely started on, and one minor group paper that we actually seem to be sort of on top of. I do have a lot of time in the next few days to do it all... but I'm feeling pretty stressed and anxious, and probably will until the end of next week.

On the bright side, the two presentations were sorta bad luck of the draw and we're going first of the class - meaning we're the first ones done. Which means in at least two of my classes, the major end-of-the-semester projects will be out of the way fairly early. I'm sure I'll be thankful for that.. a week and a half from now.

The weather got really chilly all of the sudden, and it's been getting darker waaay too early. Why can't we do daylight savings the other way around to give us more time in the evening? I think it would be less depressing that way. Anyway, I'm sitting here in a sweatshirt sucking down hot cocoa and buttered toast like some sort of pre-hibernation binge. Winter has never been my favorite season, but it wasn't till a few years ago it became a chore in and of itself. It seems to get worse every year. Global warming is a lie I tell you! A vicious lie!

Today I'm also suffering from buyer's elation and buyer's remorse at the same time - for the opposite purchases than I'd originally pegged. I've worked with the Adobe production programs before, and a few months ago decided to pick up the student edition of the Production Suite set - a $1700 bundle for just over $300 at the student discount. I've been totally spazzed about this for weeks, and finally picked it up just today. It's installed and I've re-visited a few projects I've done in the past, but... right now I'm totally terrified that I'll never actually use it for anything. The fact that it's completely non-returnable is just making me more anxious about it. Video editing is something I've always loved doing, so thinking about owning this product was a thrill. Having it in front of me, I keep seeing red dollar signs and thinking "Winter tuition is coming up! Rent will be due!" despite the fact that I carefully made this purchase knowing I have quite enough funds to cover it all. Buyer's remorse is a natural part of any major purchase... and this is the most "major" purchase I've made all year. But it still sucks.

Purchase number two happened a few days ago on a whim. See, I've been watching this show, Avatar, which pretty much pwns in nearly all areas. Despite the fact that it's produced by Nickelodeon, Avatar is one of the greatest series to be produced in America in years, if not much longer than that. It boasts a complicated serialized story, a heavily researched eastern influenced world, amazingly animated fight sequences involving the greatest magic system ever, and *gasp* believable characters who change and develop. I knew halfway through Season 1 that I'd be picking this show up eventually and have been comparing prices for a while. I would have waited a while longer, but then there was Episode 11 of Book 3. It pushed me over the edge (this statement refers to both my purchasing patience and my sanity, as Troy will attest). After a satisfying session of severe geeking out, I noticed Amazon lists the box sets for 30% off the SRP, and on a complete impulse I bought the first two seasons, somewhere in the back of my mind sure I'd regret it hours later. I'll get back to you if that ever actually kicks in. I'm still geeking out about it, and I'm counting down the days until Fall of 08 which is probably when Book 3 will be released as the third box set. And I'm totally gonna capture clips with Adobe Premiere and post them for your viewing pleasure once the shipment gets here.

And those are this weeks adventures in having too many expensive things I want to buy and really jittery nerves about spending money.

Ok, I need to calm the crap down and go to bed. Tomorrow I need to work on an idea I have for a video segment for one of my group presentations. I also need to figure out if I need to cook anything for Thursday. I should really attempt to de-stress and get as much stuff done and out of the way as possible. Good luck to the rest of you suffering from similar "vacation" problems, and remember to relax and have a happy Thanksgiving holiday.

Well, to eliminate buyer's remorse, I'll have to teach you Flash basics so you can make your own Numa Numa flash movies! And we'll be editing videos a plenty this next semester...
